White Sox 2019 Players’ Weekend uniforms and nicknames unveiled

by Joe Binder

This afternoon, Major League Baseball unveiled the brand new uniforms for this year’s 2019 Players’ Weekend and they sure are… interesting. Teams across the league will be wearing either an all-black uniform or an all-white uniform, with the home team reportedly getting first choice.

The White Sox gave us a sneak peek at their monochromatic black jersey on Twitter and it is sleek.  As you can see below, the jerseys will feature a similar script to what appeared on this season’s Opening Day hoodie giveaway.

Personally, I am a huge fan of this style script so to see it on a jersey for the first time is pretty cool. Depending on which color uniform the team decides to go with, they will be wearing one of the following hats.

Since the White Sox currently have not made their monochromatic white uniforms available online yet, here’s a look at what it looks like for the Astros. It’s a very unique color scheme to go with league-wide and should make for some interesting debates from fans leading up to and during Players’ Weekend.

  • Jose Abreu: MAL TIEMPO
  • Alex Colome: THE HORSE
  • Ryan Cordell: CORDY
  • Jimmy Cordero: GERARD

Being that we’re huge James McCann fans here at Sox On 35th, it’s awesome to see his nickname “McCannon” making an appearance on the back of his jersey. Also, it’s hard not to love the creativity from Evan Marshall, which is why his nickname is my personal favorite.
