White Sox fans have always embraced the gritty identity of South Side baseball. No matter what the scoreboard or the standings say, the Sox always play hard. Whether the team is competing or rebuilding, White Sox fans always party hard.

Mark Buehrle hit the nail on the head in his recent Player’s Tribune article. When addressing speculation that he had downed a few beers before entering Game 3 of the 2005 World Series, he admitted to it and justified it perfectly:

When it was all said and done, I got the save. We got the win. And we won the whole thing the next day.

No one gives me any grief about it … because, first and foremost, sports fans in Chicago care about winning. And we brought home the trophy.

But also, I think part of it has to do with the fact that the people there really love their beer.

They understand.

Hell yeah, damn right Mark. Us South Siders REALLY love our beer.

And jumping through tables.

And shattering ribs.

Sox Mafia killed it on Mark Buehrle Day and will be back to raise hell on Saturday, July 15th for Disco Demolition Night. Give them a follow on Twitter and make it out to the next tailgate.
