Don’t get your hopes up just yet, White Sox fans. Thursday has been a wild one for the entire city of Chicago, as Jose Quintana was traded to the North Side of town. Just a short while ago, the day took another unexpected turn after Yoan Moncada was listed on the Chicago White Sox active roster. Here’s how it appeared on the White Sox official website:
Now, this is being called a glitch by White Sox beat reporters. Moncada was placed on the temporary inactive list on July 7th, by the Charlotte Knights, so he could take part in the MLB Futures Game. With both the Knights and White Sox coming off their All-Star breaks, the organization was simply activating him from the list.
After some confusion on social media, Daryl Van Schouwen was the first of many to say Moncada is not expected to be promoted to Chicago on Friday. So, as for now, it appears that Moncada will be staying in Charlotte. However, with more trades on the horizon and roster moves expected to take place, a promotion could come sooner rather than later.
