Matt Davidson’s Top 10 Moments with the Chicago White Sox

On Thursday afternoon, Matt Davidson announced on his personal Twitter that he has signed a deal with the Texas Rangers for the 2019 season. In his tweet, Davidson also thanked the White Sox and the fans for his time spent on the South Side.

During his tenure wearing the black and white, the fan-favorite provided us with plenty of great memories. Here’s a look back at Matty D’s Top 10 moments with the Chicago White Sox:

10. SoxFest 2018

We’ll start off the list with this cool moment from SoxFest 2018 where a fan surprised Matt Davidson with his Future’s Game jersey.

9. Four Games, Four Home Runs

In June 2017, Matt Davidson went on a tear and homered in four straight games for the Sox.

8. Wrigley Field Bullet

As you’ll see later in this list, sometimes the most memorable home runs come against the Cubbies on the North Side. Here’s a fine example of that with a missile hit into the left field bleachers.

7. Walk-Off vs. Tigers

Welcome to the walk-off section of this article. Matt Davidson helped play hero plenty of times for the White Sox. Here’s a classic example of that from this past September.

6. Walk-Off vs. Indians

We don’t like Cleveland, you don’t like Cleveland, and Matt Davidson doesn’t like Cleveland. Mix it all together and you get this Matty D walk-off vs. the Indians on July 30, 2017.

5. Overcoming 6-Run Deficit

Just one day after his walk-off vs. Cleveland from moment No. 6, Matt Davidson finished things off once again with another walk-off. This time, the White Sox were down six runs at one point before pulling off the comeback.

4. North Side Bomb

There’s nothing quite like a 476-foot blast into Wrigleyville with Hawk Harrelson on the call.

3. Giancarlo Stanton Strikeout

In one of his memorable moments on the mound, Davidson completely baffled Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton with a nasty curve to strike him out.

2. Pitching Debut

In his first relief appearance of the season, Davidson threw a scoreless inning against the Rangers, wowing everyone with his performance. Now, he’s headed to Arlington as a two-way player.

1.  Opening Day 2018

In what turned out to be an offensive onslaught, Matt Davidson lead the way with 3 home runs and 5 RBI in a 14-7 win. He became the fourth player in MLB history to record three home runs on Opening Day.
