Because we are all sick and tired of talking about 2020, we now have the ability to talk about 2021. Earlier this afternoon, the White Sox released their schedule for the 2021 season, which you can see below:
Here are some of my initial thoughts:
- Starting the season on the west coast for a seven-game road trip will be weird. It’s the first time since 1993 that the Sox open against the Angels, and just the third time in the last 12 seasons they’ve began against an AL West team.
- April and May are going to be HUGE months for the Sox. A total of 13 out of the team’s first 27 games, and 28 of their first 54 games are going to be against AL Central teams. If the Sox want to win the division, getting off to a hot start will be crucial for this club.
- I’m bummed the Sox don’t get to travel to St. Louis, but I look forward to having the chance to cross a few more NL parks off my list (CIN, PIT).
- Six games against the Cubs is always the proper amount. It’s a rivalry, you can’t convince me otherwise, especially when both teams are expected to be good.
Hopefully, by the time this schedule comes around, we will all be welcomed back into ballparks. And, if we are, some of the Sox blogs have a surprise for all of you:
Sox Machine, From The 108, Future Sox, and ourselves here at Sox On 35th will be joining forces to host a tailgate party on the road in Milwaukee on Saturday, July 24, 2021!
