Earlier this offseason, the White Sox sent seven players to take part in the Arizona Fall League, which allows six teams made up of prospects from all 30 clubs to compete with one another and showcase their skills to their respective teams.
The White Sox players play for the Glendale Desert Dogs, who are 12-13 – fourth in the standings and four games back of the leading Surprise Saguaros. As the fall season comes to an end, here is an update on just how the White Sox’ seven prospects performed over the course of the past 25 games:
- Moises Castillo: 56 PA, .347/.429/.510, 1 HR, 13 RBI, 2 SB
- Adam Hackenberg: 56 PA, .178/.304/.244, 1 HR, 10 RBI, 0 SB
- Terrell Tatum: 20 PA, .294/.400/.294, 0 HR, 4 RBI, 4 SB
- Declan Cronin: 8.1 IP, 5.40 ERA, 0 BB, 7 K, 1.560 WHIP
- Sammy Peralta: 13.0 IP, 3.46 ERA, 4 BB, 13 K, 1.385 WHIP
- Lane Ramsey: 8.2 IP, 5.19 ERA, 6 BB, 9 K, 1.615 WHIP
- Chase Solesky: 17.1 IP, 5.71 ERA, 7 BB, 15 K, 1.558 WHIP
Peralta has the sixth-best ERA among Desert Dogs pitchers, while Castillo is third in OPS amongst hitters.
Additionally, Adam Hackenberg was selected to take place in the AZL Fall Stars game a few days ago. Moises Castillo was also selected, however, he chose not to play in the game.
Baseball America also has a video of one of Castillo’s batting practice sessions available, which you can view here.
With many of the top White Sox prospects not attending the league, it paved the way for players such as Castillo, Hackenberg, Peralta, and others to get their names out there. Peralta has become a player to watch for the White Sox’ bullpen in 2023, as is Ramsey. Those are definitely two players who aren’t too far away from the majors.
If you’d like to watch the end of the Arizona season, the AFL Championship Game will also be broadcasted on MLB Network on November 12 at 6 PM CT.
