White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez left today’s game in the bottom of the second with right calf cramping. He is listed as day-to-day.
Besides the injury, Hanser Alberto hit a three-run homer as the last push to make the MLB roster in the coming days. Unfortunately, those were the only runs from the Pale Hose today. Adam Hasley played pretty well after replacing Eloy collecting two singles and a double in his three at-bats. Alberto also added a single before being pinch-hit by Romy Gonzalez and Andrew Benetinedi hit a single, coming around to score on Alberto’s homer.
Recently acquired Franklin German had a tough start on the mound today. He pitched one and a third innings, letting out four runs on six hits in the span. Bryan Shaw, Declan Cronin, Gregory Santos, and Lane Ramsey strung together a couple of good innings of relief letting out three hits and one unearned run with a handful of strikeouts. This wasn’t enough though as Edgar Navorra let out a two-run double in the eighth to close the possibility of a comeback.
With the loss, the White Sox fall to 9-9 in Spring Training.
