The White Sox took on the Diamondbacks tonight as Spring Training comes to a close, but the focus quickly turned to the health of one of their top starters.
Lance Lynn got the start today for the Sox, going 3.1 innings and allowed 7 runs (4 ER) on 7 hits with one walk and five strikeouts before being removed from the game due to “right knee discomfort.” Aaron Bummer had a nice day on the bump, throwing two shutout innings with two strikeouts. Kyle Crick threw 1 scoreless inning, while Jose Ruiz also got one inning of work in. He gave up 1 run on 2 hits with 1 strikeout. Elsewhere, Taylor Broadway and Caleb Freeman combined to throw 0.2 scoreless innings, and each recording 1 strikeout.
On the offense, the White Sox were able to push across 4 runs today. The newest addition to the White Sox, A.J. Pollock, was in the lineup tonight against one of his former teams. He went 0-for-2 on the day, scoring 1 run after reaching on an error. Adam Engel went 2-4 today, scoring 1 run with 1 RBI, and outfielder Micker Adolfo continued to impress this Spring, going 2-for-3 and hitting a bases-clearing 3-run double in the top of the 6th.
Granted, the biggest news from today will continue to be the health of Lance Lynn.
