The duality of Michael Kopech was once again on display today against the Dodgers. He began the game with a leadoff walk, which eventually came around to score. His third walk of the day also came around to score in the second inning. However, Kopech came out in the third and recorded strikeouts of both Max Muncy and Chris Taylor. Ultimately, he got through 2.2 innings in total, ceding two runs with three walks and three strikeouts.
He was not the lone White Sox pitcher to struggle this afternoon. Touki Toussaint had a rough outing, giving up a two-out, full-count grand slam to Freddie Freeman in the fourth inning. After a strong first two innings on the mound, Jake Woodford ran into problems in the eighth inning, conceding two runs and two walks in addition to a hit by pitch.
Contrarily, the White Sox bats showed up today. This was spearheaded by another strong Eloy Jimenez showing, as he recorded a towering home run to left to go along with a walk and a single. Paul DeJong and Dominic Fletcher also recorded multi-hit games.
The solid offensive showing was not enough to overcome the command problems White Sox pitching faced today, however, and the loss drops them to 4-9 in Spring Training.
