If Eloy Jimenez doesn’t hit a home run, then did he really even play? This is a question with a clear answer and I’m sure you can guess what that might be. If not, then Eloy just made it loud and clear.
The White Sox top prospect made his 2018 Dominican Winter League debut for the Gigantes del Cibao on Friday night. To nobody’s surprise, he did so in grand fashion. In the bottom of the third, Eloy came up with the bases loaded and crushed a 91 mph pitch to left field for a grand slam. See the video below:

Since one video isn’t enough, here’s another angle taken by a fan behind home plate:

In addition to the grand slam, Eloy picked up a single to finish the night 2-4 with 4 RBI and a run scored. The Gigantes ended up losing 6-5 after surrendering two runs in the top of the ninth to the Estrellas Orientales. Also worth noting, former White Sox prospect Fernando Tatis Jr. was on the opposing team and went 1-4 with a run scored.
Eloy is expected to play for the Dominican team for about the next 4-5 weeks. During that time, it is expected that he splits time between the outfield and designated hitter.
