Starting Pitchers and Game Notes

Nathan Eovaldi (2-1, 2.08 ERA) vs. Lucas Giolito (1-0, 2.55 ERA)

  • The Red Sox have been scheduled to play at Fenway Park every Patriots’ Day since 1959, with the 11 a.m. start time beginning in 1968. The early start time assures fans at the baseball game get out early enough in the day to cheer on Boston Marathon runners.
  • Lucas Giolito will look to improve upon his already stellar ERA for the season against a team he has a track record of success against.

I am wondering why we keep using Leury Garcia as he seems like a very weak hitter and the errors seem to never stop. Yet, Mr. LaRussa continues to play him regardless of how badly he fields and how terrible he is at hitting. Ditto for Lamb. This seems to be further indication that Mr. LaRussa is no longer the man he thought himself to be nor the manager that Reinsdorf imagined he would be. Sadly, it is possible this group of White Sox will be 80-82 when the season ends. And if Mr. Reinsdorf doesn’t interfere and force Hahn to remain with Mr. LaRussa we will get a much more competent and aware manager than what we have today. Then, and only then, will we become the powerful, balanced team achieving its full potential and, perhaps win a WS.
