The Tim Anderson injury will enable Luis Robert to hit leadoff, a role he figures to have on the White Sox for many years going forward. This will also allow him to bat next to Nick Madrigal who currently is in the #9 slot but also figures to be in the top of the White Sox batting order sooner rather than later. My guess is that the White Sox will have Robert #1 and Madrigal #2 as soon as 2021 depending on any upgrades to the lineup this offseason. I like switch-hitting Yoan Moncada batting in the third slot eventually with Eloy Jimenez in the cleanup role. The 5-6 slots should fall to some combination of Jose Abreu, Andrew Vaughn and Yasmani Grandal with Tim Anderson heading the bottom third of the batting order. I suspect the fly in the ointment might be Abreu who has been a mainstay in the third slot for the team. He may stick there in 2021 which could keep Madrigal at #9 and Moncada at #2 which would also make some sense as long as Abreu continues to produce RBI’s.
