It’s hard to find a baseball player who’s having a hotter stretch – both on and off the field – than Jake Burger.
The White Sox slugger and his fiancée, Ashlyn Carmela, revealed in a series of social media posts this afternoon that they are expecting a baby boy.
Captions on the two’s respective posts read, “Did someone order a burger slider?”
The couple’s news comes on the heels of a separate announcement by Carmela on Sunday, revealing that the pair were newly engaged. Our partners over at Sox in The Basement Podcast caught up with Burger’s fiancée shortly after to discuss her new engagement among several other things.
As for Burger, the 26-year-old has been a much-needed presence in the lineup as of late. He’s hitting .322/.385/.712 (19-for-59) with five doubles, six home runs, 16 RBI, a 1.096 OPS, and six multi-hit efforts over his last 16 games. Though he left Monday’s game with a bruised right hand, x-rays were negative and the team listed him as day-to-day.
