As the White Sox enter into another rebuild, we here at Sox On 35th are working to build sustained success as a page. Because of that, we’re looking to add to our crew in 2024!
Sox On 35th is a Chicago-based sports media company founded by Joe Binder (@JoeBinder) in 2016, centering on the creation and distribution of original written content, graphic designs, photos, videos, podcasts, and more. Sox On 35th has amassed over 80,000 combined followers on social media and a team of 17 talented contributors. Along the way, we have partnered with companies such as NBC Sports Chicago, USA Today, BreakingT, STN Video, and Guaranteed Rate.
If you’re passionate about baseball and want to get your start in sports journalism, or you’ve written before and want to get your name out there again, this is the team for you! We are looking for all content creators who want to share their work with our combined 80,000+ followers and the rest of baseball social media! All positional openings are described further below, along with instructions on how to apply.
Please note that prior experience creating content for an online platform is always beneficial, but certainly not required for every role. We have a dedicated team of contributors who are more than happy to share their knowledge, guidance, and expertise with those who are just getting their feet wet in the sports media realm.
Available Positions
MLB Writer
MLB writers are primarily responsible for writing about the Chicago White Sox and related happenings at the major league level. Articles may include news updates, game recaps, and analysis pieces among other things. Individuals interested in the position are encouraged, though not required, to have prior writing experience, though an understanding of the major league team is expected.
All contributors will have the opportunity to specialize in the articles of their choosing, though are encouraged to be versatile and bring their own ideas to the table. We’re looking for individuals who can provide unique insights and perspectives that force our readers to think differently and consider new ways of assessing this team and its players, as well as those with a willingness to produce content consistently.
Qualifications:
- Highly motivated to contribute on a regular basis throughout the regular season and off-season.
- Prior experience writing for another publication and/or a willingness to learn.
- Enjoys the challenge of looking outside the box for unique content ideas.
- Active presence on social media platforms. All contributors are encouraged to share not only their own content but that of others on the page.
- Most importantly, exhibit a strong passion for the Chicago White Sox.
Requirements/Expectations:
- Write three (3) articles per month on the Chicago White Sox at the major league level that serve our existing audience and attract new readers.
- This includes the expectation of one (1) unique analytical piece per month.
- During the offseason, we look for two (2) articles from the end of the Postseason to Spring Training.
- Participate in site-wide articles (HOF/ASG Voting, Awards Voting, Power Rankings, etc.)
- Utilize various platforms, including video, social media, and podcasts, to engage with our fans.
- Collaborate with other Sox On 35th and White Sox contributors, whether it’s appearing on a podcast or writing articles.
- Contribute to our yearly goal of brand growth by sharing content produced by the team.
Payment:
- All contributors will have the opportunity to earn compensation for their work as well as take part in expense-free group outings throughout the year. Compensation varies based on the type of content produced, frequency of production, and content viewership, among several other factors.
- All contributors to Sox On 35th are given transparent information about earnings potential that can be tracked throughout the year.
MiLB Writer
MiLB writers are primarily responsible for writing about the Chicago White Sox minor league system and related happenings. Articles may include news updates, nightly farm reports, player profiles, and analysis pieces among other things. Individuals interested in the position are encouraged, though not required, to have prior writing experience, though an understanding of the minor league team, minor league rankings, and MLB Draft/alternative play acquisition processes are expected.
All contributors will have the opportunity to specialize in the articles of their choosing, though are encouraged to be versatile and bring their own ideas to the table. Those who meet the necessary monthly requirements will also have the opportunity to contribute towards Sox On 35th’s prospect rankings.

- Enjoys the challenge of looking outside the box for unique content ideas.

- Write three (3) articles per month on the Chicago White Sox at the minor-league level that serve our existing audience and attract new readers.
- This includes the expectation of one (1) unique analytical piece or player profile per month.
- During the offseason, we look for two (2) articles from the end of the Postseason to Spring Training.

Digital Content Contributor
Digital Content contributors are primarily responsible for assisting with editing and producing original content that appears on the various Sox On 35th platforms. Duties may include podcast editing, video editing, photography, and graphic design creation among other things.
Individuals interested in the position are encouraged to have prior editing experience. All contributors will have the opportunity to specialize in the area of their choosing, though applicants who are versatile and willing to help wherever needed will be considered more heavily.
Qualifications:
- Highly motivated to contribute on a regular basis throughout the regular season and off-season.
- Prior editing experience using programs within the Adobe Create Cloud or its equivalent.
- Enjoys the challenge of looking outside the box for unique content ideas.
- Active presence on social media platforms. All contributors are encouraged to share not only their own content but that of others on the page.
- Most importantly, exhibit a strong passion for the Chicago White Sox.
Requirements/Expectations:
- Contribute towards three (3) pieces of content per month. This may include podcasts, videos, graphics, etc. depending on preference.
- Utilize various platforms, including video, social media, and podcasts, to engage with our fans.
- Collaborate with other Sox On 35th and White Sox contributors.
Payment:
- All contributors will have the opportunity to earn compensation for their work as well as take part in expense-free group outings throughout the year. Compensation varies based on the type of content produced, frequency of production, and content viewership, among several other factors.

Social Media Contributors
Social Media contributors are primarily responsible for interacting with and sharing Sox On 35th content on all platforms as well as original content creation. Duties may include capturing media from the stadium, creating short videos for posting or collaboration, and general engagement with the account among other things.
Individuals interested in the position are encouraged to be a team-first player, highly motivated to contribute, and have an active presence on all social media platforms. All interested individuals will have the opportunity to specialize in any areas of interest as well as provide their unique content ideas.
Qualifications:
- Highly motivated to contribute on a regular basis throughout the regular season and off-season.
- Prior editing experience with programs in the Adobe Create Suite or their equivalent.
- Enjoys the challenge of looking outside the box for unique content ideas.
- Active presence on social media platforms. All contributors are encouraged to share not only their own content but that of others on the page.
- Most importantly, exhibit a strong passion for the Chicago White Sox.
Requirements/Expectations:
- Contribute towards three (3) pieces of content per month.
- Maintain a strong and consistent presence on social media.
- Serve as an ambassador for Sox On 35th at games or public events.
- Utilize various platforms, including video, social media, and podcasts, to engage with our fans and contributors.
- Collaborate with other Sox On 35th and White Sox contributors.

- If you are applying as a Writer: our Executive team will review your first-round application. If you make it to the second round, you will be asked to submit a writing sample along with some additional questions.
