Here at Sox On 35th, we boast a talented and passionate group of contributors that provides coverage all year long. To help you get familiar with our staff, we will be rolling out our “Meet the Team” article series throughout the offseason. In this first installment, we get to know Joe Binder.
About Me
Hey, everyone! My name is Joe Binder, and I’m the founder of Sox On 35th. I grew up in South Central Pennsylvania, but have since lived in New Jersey, Texas, and now Florida. Thanks to the name of my little league team and the 2005 World Series run, I’ve been a diehard Sox fan from an early age.
In 2020, I graduated from Seton Hall University with a degree in Visual and Sound Media – a fancy way of saying Television Production – along with a minor in Sports Media. It was during my freshman year when the start of the rebuild inspired me to create Sox On 35th (@SoxOn35th) on Twitter. At the time, I wanted something that would force me to keep up with the team on a regular basis so what better way to do it than with digital media for all fans to consume?
After running our account for several months and seeing the awesome interactions, I introduced our blog the following summer. What felt like out of nowhere, a group of a dozen or so contributors joined me not long after and the rest from there is history.
Outside of my full-time job, I continue to run our Sox On 35th socials with the help of Jordan Lazowski. I also have the pleasure of overseeing all of our page’s operations while working with our dedicated staff, which has grown to include over 20 contributors.

Baseball Fandom
- Favorite White Sox Player: Joe Crede (position player), Mark Buehrle (pitcher)
- Favorite non-White Sox Player: Ken Griffey Jr. (position player), Mariano Rivera (pitcher)
- Favorite Thing About Being a White Sox Fan: Aside from the days Leury Garcia isn’t in the lineup, I’d have to say my favorite thing is the community aspect of our fanbase. I think White Sox Twitter is incredibly unique, and we’re all fortunate to have a place where so many different blogs, podcasts, and perspectives can co-exist.
- Least Favorite Baseball Team: If we’re staying within the division, the Twins have long held the crown even though the Guardians are closing the gap. Otherwise, nobody really comes close to the Astros for me.
- Favorite White Sox Uniform: The “Southside” City Connect unis are hard to pass up. Ask me before they were a thing and I would have given you the 1968 powder blue throwbacks.
- “Mount Rushmore” of White Sox Players: Frank Thomas, Minnie Minoso, Mark Buehrle, and Paul Konerko.
- Favorite In-Person White Sox Memory: Being from the Northeast, it’s really hard not to say my first series in Chicago a few years back. I met a bunch of great folks and caught three games (two wins) with my dad in a stadium where we finally weren’t outnumbered.
- Least Favorite In-Person White Sox Memory: Aside from ALDS Game 1 which I missed due to work, pick any of the other games played in Houston during 2021. In case you needed a reason why I moved to Florida, there are five of them right there.
- Favorite Baseball Movie: Moneyball
- Favorite Ballpark: PNC Park in Pittsburgh tops the seven I’ve visited.
- Ballpark You Want to Visit: Oracle Park in San Francisco.
- Favorite Ballpark Food: Can’t go wrong with some dogs and nachos.
- Favorite Baseball Stat: Probably not the answer we intended with this question, but the number of Jordan Lazowski’s #SoxMath wins in 2022 (zero).
- All-Time Favorite Broadcaster Call: Ed Farmer’s call of Paulie’s slam. Find me something more electric.
Personal Questions
