In the dead of winter, baseball fans long for warm summer days at the ballpark. This week’s edition of Moncada Mondays takes you back to a mid-September day in Detroit. The White Sox opened up a four-game series against the Tigers on a Thursday afternoon. Yoan Moncada was slotted second in the order, and he was ready to go right out of the gate. Down 1-2 in the count, he made Chad Bell pay for leaving a fastball up in the zone.

Moncada set the tone for the game with this home run as the Sox would mash 25 hits on their way to a 17-7 victory. Yoan continued to rake, going 4-5 with two walks and five runs scored on the afternoon. Only 73 days until Moncada and the South Siders face the Royals on Opening Day!
