With an odd day yesterday postponing Saturday’s game to this afternoon, the White Sox spent their day playing a “doubleheader” of sorts. In game one, the White Sox couldn’t give a very good Dallas Keuchel much run support, and Liam Hendriks gave up a home run to Taylor Trammel to the ninth to give the Mariners a 3-2 win.
The offense came to life in the second game on the backs of two unsuspecting faces: Yermin Mercedes and Zack Collins. The two of them drove in all seven runs in the offensive outpouring. The game ended up a little closer than fans would have liked after Jimmy Lambert gave up four runs in just 1.1 innings of work, but Liam Hendriks came in to shut the door and bounce back from his game one performance to ensure the split.
With the split, the White Sox are now 45-32.
Game 1 – W: Paul Sewald (5-2) | L: Liam Hendriks (3-2) | S: Kendall Graveman (7)
Game 2 – W: Aaron Bummer (1-4) | L: Robert Duggar (0-2) | S: Liam Hendriks (20)

Notable Performances
Dallas Keuchel (Game 1): 5 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K
Dallas Keuchel took over in game one, and he gave the White Sox everything they could’ve asked for. Keuchel was pretty straightforward about his desire to pitch the ninth inning, but Tony La Russa instead turned the ball over to Liam Hendriks. Nonetheless, Keuchel went a long way in saving the bullpen, and he only needed 87 pitches to do it.
Ryan Burr (Game 2): 2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
Ryan Burr has been a breath of fresh air in his short stint with the ball club this year. He continued his stellar start with two scoreless innings to kick off game two of this doubleheader. Hopefully, Burr can continue to contribute to a team that is desperate for solid performances out of the bullpen.
Other Notable Performances:
Yasmani Grandal (Both Games): 1-for-4, SF, 3 BB, K
Yermin Mercedes (Both Games): 3-for-8, 2B, 3 RBI
Tim Anderson (Both Games): 2-for-8
Zack Collins (Game Two): 2-for-4, 2B, 4 RBI, K

Next Game
The White Sox welcome Minnesota to town starting tomorrow evening for a four-game series, though it is unclear if the team will do this with or without Jose Abreu after being hit on the knee by a 96 mph sinker. He would have to leave game one with this injury, thought x-rays came back negative.
Lucas Giolito and Kenta Maeda will match up at 7:10 PM CT on NBC Sports Chicago.
