Postgame Report: Angels 3, White Sox 2

by Sox On 35th Contributors

In the second game of a three-game set and after last night’s thrashing, the South-Siders looked to take the series tonight. However, their late magic fell short in tonight’s 3-2 loss.

Dallas Keuchel had an OK night on the mound. He had the ground ball pitch going, as he recorded 10 groundouts including 2 double-plays. The 1st run to cross the plate against Keuchel was on a 2-out infield single, which was ruled after a challenge of the original call. He escaped a bases-loaded, 1-out jam in the 5th with one of those double-plays. While he did not give up many runs (only two all night), he threw more balls than strikes and was far from in command. Kopech and Crochet were the relievers tonight, combining for 3 innings and 1 earned run on a solo shot with 4 strikeouts.

Cesar Hernandez got the first hit of the night for the White Sox in the 3rd inning. Yoan Moncada put the 1st run on the board with a rocket to right field to tie the game. Later in the 6th inning, Jose Abreu doubled and scored on a single from Yasmani Grandal. This was all for the offense tonight, hitting 2-for-9 with runners in scoring position.

With the loss, the White Sox fall to 83-52, and their magic number stays at 7.

Another hot hitter, Grandal drove in a run as well to tie the game at 2. That base hit drove in Abreu from 2nd base. Including tonight, Yaz is hitting .411 with 19 RBI in 15 games since coming off the IL.
