Postgame Report: Brewers 1, White Sox 0

by Nik Gaur

The White Sox could not solve the masterful Adrian Houser tonight, as a brisk pitchers’ duel concluded with the White Sox losing for the first time since last Tuesday. Luis Robert and Yoan Moncada each narrowly missed hitting go-ahead home runs in the eighth inning, and the team did not rally in the ninth.

W: Adrian Houser (1-0) | L: Dallas Keuchel (2-1) | SV: Josh Hader (2)

Notable Performances

Dallas Keuchel: 7.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 8 K

Dallas Keuchel battled through a couple of tense innings to deliver an overall exceptional start. With the White Sox lined up to use a bullpen day on Saturday in lieu of a true starting pitcher, the extra rest for the bullpen tonight is very important.

Danny Mendick: 3-for-3, 2B

Danny Mendick started at second base tonight and played very well, as he provided the team with three of its only six hits. Mendick was the sole Sox player with multiple hits tonight.

Codi Heuer: 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K

Heuer was the only other pitcher needed for the White Sox tonight, and he was electric. He did not allow a baserunner in two innings of work.

Moment of the Game

There were not many highlights for the White Sox tonight, but this interaction was pretty funny.

Player of the Game

Dallas Keuchel’s strong outing kept the White Sox in the game all night. While Danny Mendick had a nice evening at the plate, Keuchel’s dominance in a low-scoring game gives him the edge.

Looking Ahead

The White Sox will close out their season series with the Brewers tomorrow night at 7:10 PM CT in Chicago. Josh Lindblom will start for the Brewers against Gio Gonzalez.
