The Sox hitters struggled to generate any offense this afternoon, mustering up just four hits in the game for a 5-0 loss. However, the story of the game was the injury to Luis Robert while running down the line in the first inning, which had fans everywhere holding their breath. Robert was taken out of the game, with the team saying he has a hip flexor strained and will be further evaluated tomorrow.
Lucas Giolito worked into the sixth and gave up jus one earned run, but the overall flat team couldn’t do anything with the Indians’ pitching staff. With the loss, the Sox drop to 15-12 on the season.

It was an encouraging performance for Giolito, who had struggled in his previous two outings and bounced back effectively today. His 1 ER came in the form of a home run to Cesar Hernandez, with the other being unearned due to an error. He pitched into the sixth and kept the White Sox in the game all afternoon, and that’s exactly what the Sox were looking for. Can’t win if you can’t score.
Andrew Vaughn: 2-4
There weren’t many notable hitting performances for the Sox, but Andrew Vaughn continues to look better at the plate, hitting the ball hard in several at bats and registering a couple base hits. Vaughn seems to be on the brink of becoming a consistent hitter and perhaps tapping into his power potential, and he is now hitting .275/.373/.373 on the season.
Matchup of the Game
Jose Ramirez came up against Codi Heuer in the 6th inning with a runner on base and the Indians lead still at 2-0. With the game on the brink, Ramirez did what he consistently does against the White Sox and hit a home run to break the game open at 4-0. This all but ended the game for a White Sox’ offense that had just three hits in the game up to that point.

The White Sox are off tomorrow, but take on the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday at 5:40 P.M. Central Time for the first of a two game series. Dylan Cease is scheduled to take the mound against Jeff Hoffman for Cincinnati.
