The White Sox lost a close game with the Indians this evening, as Shane Bieber outdueled Dallas Keuchel in a 5-3 Cleveland victory. The scoring started in the 2nd inning with an RBI double from Luis Robert, scoring Yermin Mercedes all the way from first. However, Dallas Keuchel then gave up 3 runs in the top of the 3rd as he struggled early in this one. The White Sox offense struggled against Bieber, striking out 11 times, but also had their opportunities to score as they put up three runs across six innings from Bieber. The bullpen gave up 1 run – a home run from Jose Ramirez – over 3 solid innings. The White Sox would bring the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the ninth, but could not cash in against Emmanuel Clase.
The White Sox record drops to 14-11 after this loss to the Indians

Notable Performances
Dallas Keuchel: 6 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 4 BB, 4 K
It was an uncharacteristically wild night from Keuchel, as he lost his command a bit in a third inning that turned out to be a difference-maker in today’s ballgame. For most of the night, he posted a pretty solid performance, however, and he didn’t let his third inning control issues prevent him from throwing six quality innings for the Sox.
Tim Anderson: 2-for-4, RBI, 2 SB
Tim Anderson had the best night offensively for the South Siders. He reached base twice on 2 singles, drove in a run, and got into scoring position both times with 2 stolen bases.
Luis Robert: 2-for-4, 2B, RBI
Luis got the scoring started with an RBI double in the 2nd inning. He also had 2 hard-hit balls, measured as 95mph or greater in exit velocity. While Luis has said he has felt good at the plate, he still thinks there’s plenty of room for him to continue improving.
Matchup of the Game
In the 3rd inning, Keuchel gave up a single and walked two to load the bases. With the bases loaded, Jose Ramirez came up to bat. After gaining an advantage with a 2-0 count, Ramirez ripped a sinker just off the plate to center field to score Gimenez and Hernandez. This event raised the Indians’ winning percentage from 0% to 50%, and this really ended up being the game-defining at-bat in today’s game.
