Dallas Keuchel was stellar against the Pirates today, and the White Sox offense provided plenty of fireworks against Pittsburgh’s Trevor Williams in a 10-3 victory. Chicago improves to 19-12, while Pittsburgh falls to 7-19.
W: Dallas Keuchel (5-2) | L: Trevor Williams (1-5)
Notable Performances
Dallas Keuchel: 6.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 7 K
As always, Dallas Keuchel provided a Dallas Keuchel start: ground balls, few baserunners, and six or more innings. The one surprise, however, is that he generated quite a few swings-and-misses en route to seven strikeouts.
Danny Mendick: 2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI
Danny Mendick hit the first of four White Sox home runs with this opposite-field shot in the second inning.
Edwin Encarnacion: 2-for-4, 2B, HR, RBI
Edwin Encarnacion delivered a deep blast, his fifth of the season, off Trevor Williams.
Jose Abreu: 1-for-4, HR, 2 RBI
Jose Abreu added a two-run homer in the seventh inning to put the White Sox run total in the double digits.
Eloy Jimenez: 2-for-3, BB, HR, 3 RBI
Not to be outdone, Eloy Jimenez reached base safely three times tonight and hit yet another opposite-field home run.
Moment of the Game
Tim Anderson “only” got one hit today, but his defense has been quite improved this season, and he made a terrific leaping grab to get Dallas Keuchel out of the fourth inning.
