Dominant pitching was the theme of the evening, as neither the White Sox nor Indians were able to create sustained rallies early on. Lucas Giolito and Zach Plesac each shut down their opposing offenses. Plesac was particularly masterful, as he pitched eight shutout innings to Giolito’s six. However, the White Sox prevailed thanks to a clutch ninth inning rally. Chicago improves to 2-4, while Cleveland drops to 4-2.

Notable Performances
Lucas Giolito: 6.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 6 K
Lucas Giolito enjoyed a return to form, as he fired six shutout innings and located his pitches relatively well. Following a disappointing season opener, Giolito’s bounce-back bodes well for the White Sox rotation.
Tim Anderson: 2-for-4, 2B
Tim Anderson continued his hot streak, as he led off the crucial ninth inning with a double to deep left-center field. After a walk and a hit-by-pitch, Anderson eventually scored the winning run on Yasmani Grandal’s sacrifice fly.
Evan Marshall & Aaron Bummer: 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K
Evan Marshall and Aaron Bummer relieved Giolito in spectacular fashion. The duo combined for two perfect innings and paved the way for the White Sox to take the lead in the ninth inning.
Moment of the Game
Tonight’s game was quite dramatic, and finally seeing a run cross the plate was a massive relief.
