After winning two of three from Minnesota to start the week, the Yankees finished off their sweep of the White Sox this afternoon with a walk-off walk. Jose Abreu and Yasmani Grandal homered earlier in the game, and Andrew Vaughn hit a game-tying homer off of Aroldis Chapman, but these four runs weren’t enough to bring home the victory for the Sox. Aaron Bummer loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth before La Russa finally brought in Liam Hendriks, who walked Judge after having no room for error.
On the other side of things: Dallas Keuchel pitched into the fifth but only got 12 outs, allowing one earned run (three total runs) in the ballgame.
With the loss and the sweep, the White Sox fall to 26-19.

Savant Leaders
Notable Performances
Dallas Keuchel: 4 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 13 Swinging Strikes
Keuchel was far from dominant, and he didn’t get the length on his outing he would have liked, but he kept the team in the ballgame. Keuchel continues to struggle with control early in the season, and it appears it hasn’t all clicked for him yet, having thrown 100 pitches in 4+ innings.
Jose Abreu: 1-for-4, HR, 2 RBI
Abreu got the Sox on the board late in this one with his two-run homer in the sixth inning. Abreu is slowly starting to get back to his MVP-self, and it would be a greta sign for the team if Abreu can start to get going as the month comes to an end.
Yasmani Grandal: 1-for-2, HR, RBI, 2 BB
Grandal had another very Yasmani Grandal-type day, as he struck out, walked twice, and homered. Grandal’s OBP is up over .500 this month, and for someone getting on base half of the time he comes to the plate, it would be nice for him to hit higher up in the lineup.
Player of the Game
Player of the Game honors are going to Andrew Vaughn in this one. Vaughn had just one at-bat today, as he came in off the bench in the ninth. To hit against Aroldis Chapman is hard enough – to hit a pinch-hit homer as the first run Chapman has given up all season is impressive. Kudos to the rookie.
Matchup of the Game
One of the key matchups of this game happened early on in this one. With two runners on and two outs, the White Sox elected to pitch to Gleyber Torres, who to that point had been responsible four six of the Yankees eight runs in the first two games of the series. Instead of pitching around Torres, Keuchel gave up a two-run single that would be
The past few games, the White Sox have either failed to identify who in the opposing lineup they didn’t want to beat them, or they correctly identified him and pitched to him anyway. These two runs ended up playing a big role in today’s game.
Next Game
The White Sox return home tomorrow evening to take on another first place team, as the St. Louis Cardinals are making a trip up north. Lance Lynn will throw for the Sox, while the Cardinals’ hurler is still TBD. The game will start at 7:10 CT on NBC Sports Chicago.
