W: Evan Marshall (1-1) | L: Gregory Soto (0-2) | SV: Alex Colome (6)
Notable Performances
Dane Dunning: 4.1 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 1 BB, 7 K
Dane Dunning’s MLB debut was going quite smoothly until he allowed a three-run home run to Jeimer Candelario in the fifth inning. Dunning is being stretched out and might typically pitch deeper into games, but his outing was encouraging overall.
Jose Abreu: 2-for-4, HR, RBI
Jose Abreu broke the 3-3 tie in the bottom of the eighth inning with this opposite field solo home run.
Edwin Encarnacion: 2-for-4, 2 HR, 2 RBI
Edwin Encarnacion got back on track tonight with two solo home runs. One was the team’s first run, the other was the last.
The Bullpen: 4.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K
Matt Foster, Steve Cishek, Evan Marshall, and Alex Colome were almost perfect in their fourteen combined outs tonight.
Moment of the Game
There were a few fun moments tonight, but Dane Dunning’s first MLB strikeout was perhaps the best.
