It was an all-round solid effort by the South Siders this evening, as they took down the Royals 7-3. The White Sox love to hit in Kaufmann Stadium, plating seven runs on 14 hits. Even more surprising, it came without a single home run. Jose Abreu continued his memorable season as he extended his hit streak to 18 games, and tallied a pair of RBI. The bottom of the ninth got a little too interesting, as a run came across and “Mr. Pinch hit homer”, Ryan McBroom, came to the plate with two outs as the tying run.
The White Sox certainly seem to have gotten back on track after a couple of tough games in Minnesota. With the victory, Ricky’s boys improve to 24-15, with a 0.5 game lead on the Indians for first place.

Notable Performances
Eloy Jimenez: 3-for-5, 2B, RBI, R
Jimenez had a solid game, doing it with solid at-bats and good pieces of hitting. He had several well-disciplined trips to the plate which helped him to a 3-for-5 effort and an RBI. That brings Jimenez to 29 RBI on the season.
Jose Abreu: 2-for-5, 2B, 2 RBI
18 games. That’s how many consecutive games Jose Abreu has a base knock. There are very few players who are as more reliable then Abreu when it comes to getting on base, and the first baseman did that twice tonight. In addition, he got RBI number 38 on the season, leading all of baseball.
Tim Anderson: 2-for-4, RBI, 2 R
Tim Anderson got the party started right off the bat, with a leadoff single in the first. He later came around to score, as he did again in the sixth off an Aberu double. TA continues to lead the American League in batting, as his average is now .352.
Moment of the Game
Tonight’s “Moment of the Game” is a slider by Dane Dunning. Not just any slider, but one that made Jorge Soler look downright silly. One of the most dangerous home run hitters in baseball, Soler was not even close on this one.
Player of the Game
Eloy Jimenez’s three-hit, one-RBI effort gives him “Player of the Game” honors. While Jose Abreu has stolen a lot of the spotlight in 2020, it’s important to realize how impressive Jimenez has been as well.
Looking Ahead
The White Sox will face the Royals in game three of this four-game set, but first pitch is an hour earlier, as the action kicks off at 6:10 CDT. Lucas Giolito will take the mound for the White Sox and Kris Bubic for the Royals. Catch it all on NBC Sports Chicago and the MyTeams app.
