While it’s still hard to believe, we’re just a few days away from the end of the decade. In terms of overall success, the White Sox have not lived up to expectations throughout this period and as a fanbase, we’ve had to put up with a lot of underwhelming performances. Despite all of this, there has still been plenty to remember so I figured, why not take a look back at some of the most memorable moments from each season dating back to 2010. Let’s get started!
2010
The decade began with arguably the best defensive play made by a pitcher. On April 5th, Mark Buehrle flashed the leather with his iconic backhand flip through the legs followed by the barehand snag from Paulie at first.
Later that season came one of Paul Konerko’s most iconic moments during his South Side tenure. On September 16th, Paulie was hit in the face by Minnesota’s Carl Pavano before coming back and hitting a bomb against him in his next at-bat. “TAKE THAT, PAVANO!”
2011
In a season that ended with manager Ozzie Guillen being traded to Miami, the one moment that always sticks out to me is Alex Rios’ walk-off grand slam against the Tribe on September 10th. How about the runners on base too: Juan Pierre, Paul Konerko, and Tyler Flowers. There’s nothing more White Sox than that!
2012
While I still feel like this is forgotten by many fans, Philip Humber had the game of his life at Safeco this year. On April 21st, the righty retired all 27 Mariners’ batters faced in the league’s 21st ever perfect game thrown. I still can’t believe it actually happened either.
2013
While this moment isn’t memorable in a positive sense, the legendary Hawk Harrelson shared our pain with this call. I still remember watching this ninth inning unravel. Luckily, the “Cuban Missile” walked things off in the bottom of the inning.
2014
I don’t remember much from this season where the Sox ultimately finished fourth in the division. One date that will always stick out, however, is September 28th, which marked the end of an era as our captain bid farewell.
2015
Don’t ask me why but I loved everything about this Gordon Beckham walk-off celebration and the excitement from Hawk Harrelson just adds to it.
Speaking of Gordon, I’d be foolish not to also include this other walk-off. The Mother’s Day and Father’s Day combo is incredible.
2016
I don’t know what kind of magic got into the White Sox defense this year but they managed to somehow pull off three triple plays during the regular season and one during Spring Training.

2017
Ah yes, the first official year of the rebuild. It was a season where the “Ricky’s Boys Don’t Quit” motto become popular due to countless come from behind efforts from the team. This was also the season where we got our first glimpse of the future in Yoan Moncada. Let’s throw it back to August 10th when Moncada first tied the game with a homer in the 9th and walked it off in the 11th, completing the sweep over the Houston Astros.
On top of this, Jose Abreu also completed the cycle later that year against the San Francisco Giants on September 10th.
2018
Matt Davidson began terrorizing Kansas City from the get-go, hitting a trio of homers on Opening Day
Despite Mother Nature not cooperating, Michael Kopech gave us a glimpse not only of his electric stuff but of the playoff-like atmosphere that is not too far away.
2019
While there were many moments to choose from this past season, none can quite top the doubleheader sweep over the Detroit Tigers on June 3rd. Dylan Cease made his Major League debut in the afternoon portion while Yoan Moncada and Jose Abreu hit clutch extra inning home runs in the nightcap to win it. What an atmosphere.
