Report: Chances of a Tim Anderson trade are increasing

by Joe Binder

The rumors continue to fly as we inch ever so closer to the August 1st trade deadline.

The latest comes from MLB insider Jon Morosi, who tweeted that the likelihood of Tim Anderson getting traded is increasing. Those odds will only continue to grow if Anderson is open to playing second base as he did in this year’s World Baseball Classic, Morosi stated.

Anderson, 30, has struggled all season long but appears to have turned things around since the All-Star break. Over his last six games, the shortstop is slashing .375/.444/.417 (9-for-24) with a double, two RBI, and .861 OPS. Although a small sample size, Morosi pointed out that teams have been wanting to see evidence that his approach is back.

Though more rumors surrounding Anderson can be expected if his improved play continues, one team to watch out for is the Los Angeles Dodgers. On Thursday, Jim Bowden of The Athletic released seven trade proposals based on some of what he has been hearing within the baseball industry. His first trade highlighted the Sox and Dodgers, with Anderson, Lucas Giolito, and Kendall Graveman at the forefront of discussions.

Bowden suggests that the two teams would be a strong pairing because of the Dodgers’ prospect depth. In return, the White Sox could be looking at a strong package of names, highlighted by one of the Dodgers’ top two catching prospects – Diego Cartaya or Dalton Rushing.

It remains to be seen if conversations between those two teams or perhaps others begin to heat up over the next week or so. As more information becomes available, we will provide further updates.

No one cares. This is about baseball.

Seven years ago, the Sox backed the truck up and got a hand full of magic beans that were to grow into the core of a champion. As Sox fans, do you believe that the current brain trust is capable of acquiring and developing the right players or is the rebuild an ongoing circle of fail?
