On a quiet day for the offense, the White Sox couldn’t get the bats moving enough to secure a win. Some action finally came around late in the eighth, as Seby Zavala hit a two-run homer. Other notable performances came from Gavin Sheets with a double, as well as hits from Erik Gonzalez, Romy Gonzalez, Oscar Colas, and Adam Haseley.
Lucas Giolito had a phenomenal performance in his last appearance of Spring Training, tossing five innings with four hits and six strikeouts. Giolito will make his first start of the regular season on Saturday against Houston.
Jake Diekman stepped in first from the bullpen and quickly allowed the leadoff single to score. Later, Jose Ruiz gave up one run and Gregory Santos gave up two more runs, advancing the Rockies’ lead.
Also to note, Yoan Moncada left after just two innings with lower back stiffness. He is day-to-day.
With the loss, the White Sox are 12-13 in the Spring.
