For the first time this Spring, the White Sox walked away from a game with a win! The bats came alive, and Reynaldo Lopez started the game with two scoreless innings. Garrett Crochet and several position player regulars saw action in this afternoon’s 7-0 win in 7 innings.
W: Reynaldo Lopez (1-0) L: Scott Moss (0-1)
Position Players
The White Sox’ offense exploded this afternoon, putting seven runs on the board in seven innings. Luis Robert, Adam Eaton, and Leury Garcia all recorded multi-hit efforts, including a home run for Garcia. Yermin Mercedes also record a three-run double to go 1-for-3 in the effort. Jake Burger also recorded his first Spring Training hit in several years.
Pitchers
Reynaldo Lopez made his first start of Spring Training, going two scoreless, hitless innings and striking out one. Garrett Crochet followed with a scoreless inning of his own, while Bernardo Flores and Matt Tomshaw also recorded strong outings.
One interesting thing about Lopez is seen in the last video there. As Lucas Giolito mentioned this afternoon in an interview, Lopez’s arm action looks shorter. It will be interesting to see the long-term effect of this mechanical change for Lopez.
