Dallas Keuchel got the start today against the Royals in the White Sox’ 9-7 victory. After falling behind 5-0 early, the offense came roaring back, lead by Adam Engel’s big day at the plate. The Sox improved to 5-9-4 in the Spring with the victory.
W: Garrett Crochet (1-0): L: Daniel Lynch (1-2) S: Codi Heuer (1)
Pitchers
Dallas Keuchel had a disappointing performance, going for 2.1 innings and surrendering 5 hits, 2 walks, and 5 earned runs to go with just 1 strikeout. It’s likely no cause for panic, however, as Keuchel is a long-time veteran and is just getting tuned up for the season.
Michael Kopech, Garrett Crochet, and Codi Heuer were the other notable pitchers to make appearances. Kopech pitched two innings, striking out 2 batters, walking two, and giving up one earned run. Garrett Crochet pitched a clean inning with no hits, while Codi Heuer went two innings to finish the game off, collecting 3 strikeouts and giving up no hits.
Position Players
Adam Engel led the charge offensively, going 3-for-4 with a home run and nearly hitting for the cycle. Andrew Vaughn went 1-1 with a home run late to seal the game. Jose Abreu and Eloy Jimenez each collected two hits and an RBI, with Abreu adding a walk as well. Luis Robert and Nick Madrigal both managed a hit, while the surprising performance was from the newly signed Billy Hamilton, who went 1-3 with an RBI double as well as a walk.
