Spring Training continues to be Adam Engel’s time to shine, as he homered in last night’s ballgame and raised his Spring Training OPS to .971. However, Lance Lynn and Ryan Burr struggled, and the rest of the offense couldn’t get much going after their five-run second inning. With the loss, the White Sox fell to 5-10-4 on the Spring.

Position Players
The offense was led by Adam Engel and Nick Williams last night, both of whom homered in the losing effort. Williams continues to have a nice Spring of his own, posting a .939 OPS of his own.
Elsewhere, Nick Madrigal was 3-for-3, Yermin Mercedes had two hits, and Leury Garcia, Danny Mendick, and Andrew Vaughn each had one of their own as well. Vaughn’s hit followed a pretty impressive at-bat – he continues to be one of the most impressive Sox hitters in awhile in my opinion.
Pitchers
Lance Lynn took the mound for the start, and he struggled a bit with his command, going just 3.2 innings but throwing 85 pitches. After the game, Lynn wasn’t pleased with the effort, but emphasized it was Spring Training and there were specific things he was working on.
Ryan Burr struggled in relief and Aaron Bummer gave up a run of his own, but the combination of Codi Medieros, Tayron Guerrero, and Matt Foster were all perfect in relief.
Next Game
Saturday vs. Indians: Cal Quantrill (CLE) vs. Dylan Cease (CWS), 3:05 PM CT
The White Sox and Indians will do battle this afternoon, with Dylan Cease making his second start of the Spring. As it’s lining up, it appears Cease in currently in line to be the White Sox’ Number Four Starter this year.
This game will be streamed on whitesox.com or the MLB TV app.
