Here at Sox On 35th, we will be continuing our game recaps this offseason with a throwback to the 2005 Playoffs. Each day that, 14 years ago, the White Sox had a playoff game, we will recap it for you! Make sure to vote for Player of the Game every game, so that we can determine who you, the fans, thought were the MVPs of the 2005 World Champion Chicago White Sox! Now, let’s take this journey back to October 11, 2005…
The White Sox and Angels opened the ALCS in Chicago today. Even though the Angels were playing in their third city in three days, Paul Byrd and the rest of the Halos bested Jose Contreras and the Pale Hose in a 3-2 victory. The Angels lead the ALCS 1-0.

Stats On 35th: Let’s Break this One Down by the Numbers
Today’s Numbers:
13.0, 3, 8
13.0
In a game filled with a lot of tough performances, today’s MVP was, surprisingly, Carl Everett (13.0%), who went just 1-for-4, but started an important rally in the bottom of the fourth that brought the White Sox to within one run.
3
While the White Sox’ offense did struggle today, they only struck out a total of three times. Before today, they were 25-4 in those games in which they struck out three or less time. Tip you hat to the Angels today.

With the loss, the White Sox’ magic number to clinch the World Series Championship remained at eight.
The Game Ahead: Buehrle Looks to Right the Ship
