Lucas Giolito tossed yet another shutout in what turned out to be his best start of the year. Jose Abreu helped lead the offensive efforts by driving in a pair as the White Sox took two of three from the Twins thanks to a series ending win.

Moment of the Game
I’ll keep this explanation short and sweet: Lucas Giolito. He was incredible all afternoon and displayed filthy pitches in his second complete game shutout of the season. Friendly reminder, both of his shutouts came against a divisional leader ON THE ROAD.

Stats On 35th – Let’s Break this One Down by the Numbers
Today’s Numbers:
34.3, 11, 12.1, 7, 4
34.3
Prepare to be shocked. Not really. Today’s MVP in terms of Win Probability Added (WPA) is Lucas Giolito who had 34.3 percentage points. The runner-up behind Gio was Jose Abreu who had 14.3 points and drove in two of the team’s four runs.
11
Lucas Giolito joined our former ace, Chris Sale, in becoming the first White Sox pitcher with three consecutive games of at least 11 strikeouts or more. Sale accomplished this feat back in 2015 in a stretch spanning from May 23rd to June 30th. Giolito also joined none other than Edwin Jackson in becoming the first right-hander to accomplish such as thing since the veteran did so between August 14-31, 2010. Giolito struck out 13 vs. the Athletics, 11 vs. the Angels, and 12 vs. the Twins this afternoon.
12.1
Coming into this afternoon, Minnesota’s Jake Odorizzi had not given up a run against the Sox in 12.1 straight innings pitched. The team ended the streak, which dated back to last season, by opening up the game with a pair of runs and scoring again in the third and fifth innings. Odorizzi finished the game with a line of 5.0 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, and 6 Ks.
7
This isn’t just the number on the back of his jersey. Tim Anderson now has seven multi-hit efforts in his last eight games. He finished the game 2-5 with a couple of singles and a run scored.
4
How do you keep your pitch count low to go the distance? Well, have four innings with nine pitches or less and you should be in good shape. Lucas Giolito did just that and finished the game with 115 pitches, 82 of which were strikes.
