Lucas Giolito joined our former ace, Chris Sale, in becoming the first White Sox pitcher with three consecutive games of at least 11 strikeouts or more. Sale accomplished this feat back in 2015 in a stretch spanning from May 23rd to June 30th. Giolito also joined none other than Edwin Jackson in becoming the first right-hander to accomplish such as thing since the veteran did so between August 14-31, 2010. Giolito struck out 13 vs. the Athletics, 11 vs. the Angels, and 12 vs. the Twins this afternoon.

Coming into this afternoon, Minnesota’s Jake Odorizzi had not given up a run against the Sox in 12.1 straight innings pitched. The team ended the streak, which dated back to last season, by opening up the game with a pair of runs and scoring again in the third and fifth innings. Odorizzi finished the game with a line of 5.0 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, and 6 Ks.

This isn’t just the number on the back of his jersey. Tim Anderson now has seven multi-hit efforts in his last eight games. He finished the game 2-5 with a couple of singles and a run scored.
