Hector Santiago made his third White Sox debut tonight, getting the start in Detroit. The lefty gave up five runs (four earned), seven hits, while striking out two over 4.2 innings. Eloy Jimenez, Ryan Goins and Leury Garcia each collected three hits but the 10 runs given up by Santiago, and later Covey and Ruiz in relief, was too much to overcome for the South Siders, who fell 10-5 in game two of the doubleheader.

In the bottom of the seventh, Jordy Mercer hit a homer run to centerfield. The two-run shot put the Tigers ahead 7-2, which is all Detroit would need to hang on for the remainder of the game.
