Week 17 Record: 4-2 (41-70 Overall), 4th in AL Central
White Sox Nation got another Eloy callup scare this morning with Leury Garcia being placed on the 10-Day Disabled List, but it was Ryan LaMarre instead who was brought up. So, instead of focusing on Eloy, let’s focus our attention on the winning streak the team is currently on!

Quote of the Week: Rick Hahn at Reggie’s
If you haven’t listened to the White Sox Talk Podcast featuring Rick Hahn live at Reggie’s, you need to listen to it now. Hahn answers every question open and honestly, and he gives some really good insight as to what is going on in the White Sox organization. He is the man to lead this organization where it needs to go. Here is the link to the podcast:

Question of the Week: Lucas Giolito‘s Role in the Rebuild
This week I asked a question about Lucas Giolito and his role in the rebuild. Giolito has been much better in recent starts – he has a 3.19 ERA over his last five games with a 14/23 BB/K Ratio. So, given the air of doubt that has been surrounding Giolito all year, I asked fans if they believe Giolito’s success is here to stay, or has it all been a fluke:
45%: Success is here to stay, he’s a long-term piece
6%: This stretch is a fluke
49%: Still need more time to decide
It’s a positive sign to see so many fans optimistic about Giolito. What’s most positive, however, is everyone’s recognition of the stuff Giolito has. He was a #1 overall prospect, so giving up on him at this point would be foolish. I can understand the doubt that is going through people’s minds – his stuff hasn’t been overly impressive. However, we have seen improvement, and I think this poll shows some cautious optimism from the fan base. Thanks for voting!
Player/Moment of the Week
Thanks to everyone who voted! Congratulations this week to Daniel Palka, who captured Player of the Week honors! Palka hit just .143 this week, but his two big hits came in the form of late-inning go-ahead home runs, one against the Royals, and one yesterday against the Rays. Those two moments, in fact, won Palka Moment of the Week honors as well! While Jose Abreu might’ve hit .478 with 3 homers this week, the Section 108 Effect is clear here: you have to know the right people to win these honors!
