The Chicago White Sox exploded for 11 runs on Tuesday night in Los Angeles, upstaging the star Angel duo of Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout. Although both Angel superstars smacked home runs, it wasn’t nearly enough, as the Sox provided a whopping 17 hits in the seven-run victory. Chicago’s own star, Luis Robert, fell only a triple shy of the cycle, including a towering 448-foot blast that sent baseball social media into a storm.
Johnny Cueto continued his impressive 2022 campaign by allowing three runs in six innings, snagging his second win of the year in the process. He has been a revelation for the Southsiders, delivering plenty of length in each of his outings and offering much-needed stability to the backend of the rotation.
Things looked bleak after the Sox fell behind 3-0 on the backs of three Angel solo home runs. However, Tony La Russa’s ballclub would rally to score 10 unanswered runs in the much-needed triumph. Luis Robert and Josh Harrison both roped two-run shots in the decisive top of the fifth inning, proving to be the key momentum swing in Tuesday’s matchup. José Abreu and Tim Anderson each contributed three hits in the victory, and Yoan Moncada ripped an RBI double to right field in his return from the Injured List.
With the win, the Chicago White Sox move to 35-38 and are now six games behind the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central.

Notable Performances
Johnny Cueto: 6.0 IP, 7 H, 1 BB, 3 ER, 5 Ks (97 pitches, 63 strikes)
Although Johnny gave up three solo home runs in the bottom of the third inning to Velazquez, Trout, and Ohtani, that is all the damage he would permit in his 8th start of the season. He settled in nicely after the troublesome inning, only allowing one hit in his final three innings. He’s now submitted a quality start in four of his last six starts.
Luis Robert: 3-for-5, 2B (10), HR (8), 2 RBI, 2 R
Robert’s dynamic offensive skill set was on display yet again on Tuesday night. His two-run moonshot (448 feet) gave the Sox a 5-3 lead in the top of the fifth, and the Southsiders never looked back. He also ripped a double down the left field line in the top of the fourth inning that left the bat at a steaming 113.5 mph.
Josh Harrison: 2-for-4, BB, HR (2), 3 RBI, R
Josh continues to swing a hot bat in the late stages of June, and his two-run home run in the top of the fifth tied the game at three. It proved to be a key momentum shift in the game and ignited a flame in the White Sox bats.
Tim Anderson and José Abreu: combined 6-for-11, 2 2B, 2 RBI, 3 R
The Sox clubhouse leaders and offensive catalysts both enjoyed big days at the dish, each posting three hits. Abreu smacked two doubles and drove in two, while Anderson nabbed three hits, raising his season average to .344.
