The offense struck early and often as the White Sox hammered the Athletics on Friday afternoon. The team opened the game with six straight hits, including a Yoan Moncada blast in his first at-bat since the World Baseball Classic. The Sox followed up with another four spot in the fourth inning, and put up another in the seventh. Romy Gonzalez continued his hot streak by launching his fourth homer of the spring. A 15-hit outburst was much needed for the White Sox, who look to hit the ground running, especially offensively, as the season begins next week.
On the pitching side of things, newly-named Opening Day starter Dylan Cease made his final exhibition outing, tossing six scoreless innings in his best outing of the spring. Aaron Bummer, dealing with some early injury struggles, made his Cactus League debut in the 8th, hurling a scoreless frame and increasing confidence in his ability to break camp with the team. Joe Kelly and Kendall Graveman also joined the party, throwing a scoreless inning despite allowing a couple of hits.
With the win, the White Sox improve to 11-12 in Cactus League play.
