On a hot summer night in Chicago, the White Sox ended their six-game losing streak.
The game was started by Touki Toussaint, who gave the White Sox five strong innings while working ahead of hitters most of the night. He struck out four in the outing, with the only struggles coming in the first inning when he loaded the bases. However, Toussaint got Josh Bell to ground into an inning-ending double play. From there, he cruised and turned the game over to Tanner Banks, who provided three strong bridge innings of his own to Gregory Santos. With Kendall Graveman and Joe Kelly traded, the new de facto closer worked around a single and hit by pitch to complete the shutout.
On the offense, Luis Robert Jr. and Jake Burger continued to carry the lineup, both hitting long solo home runs to center field. Oscar Colas added an RBI single of his own as insurance in the eighth inning, but it was an overall quiet night for the offense. However, three runs ended up being enough.
With the win, the White Sox improve to 42-63.
