Through the first two innings, this game seemed to go the way everyone would have thought when the starting lineups were announced. A struggling Lance Lynn, combined with Zach Remillard, Clint Frazier, and Seby Zavala were all starting, and it was easy to assume that the White Sox would not put up much of a fight in the final of four games against the Angles. Three home runs by the Angles in the first two innings only gave further strength to that notion.
Thankfully, the White Sox offense picked up right where they left off from last night’s 11-run affair. After falling behind 4-1 entering the third, they hung six runs on a struggling Patrick Sandoval to take a 7-4 lead. The inning was not full of solo home runs, like one may assume given the White Sox recent performance. Rather, they did it all without an extra base hit. A pair of two-run singles with the bases loaded, a situation this team has struggled mightily with this season, helped burst open the floodgates.
From there, Lynn did not take his team’s offensive outburst for granted. He settled in and performed some important work, getting through four more innings only ceding one more run. While the stat line will not be kind to Lynn, he deserves credit for toughing through six innings after such a rough beginning.
As both starting pitchers settled down, and the relievers that followed also proved effective, no more runs would be scored until the ninth. A Luis Robert Jr. hit by pitch and subsequent pair of steals proved fruitful with an Andrew Vaughn triple. Vaughn later scored on a wild pitch. These two runs to make the score 9-5 would be much needed, as Shohei Ohtani continued his power streak against the White Sox in the ninth with a two run home run, his fourth of the series.
Thanks to the two insurance runs in the top half of the frame, the White Sox remained victorious, moving to 36-47 on their way to Oakland for the second half of their west coast trip.
W: Lance Lynn (4-8), L: Patrick Sandoval (4-6)

Notable Performances
Lance Lynn: 6 IP, 8 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 7 K
Lynn’s day got off to an auspicious start, as he ceded three home runs in the first two innings of his outing. However, Lynn settled in and battled through six innings. While the final line does not exude dominance, the fact that Lynn battled through six innings could prove important in the Oakland series, as the White Sox may need to go with two bullpen days.
Zach Remillard: 2-for-4, BB, R, 2 RBI
Remillard has tended to find himself up in important spots during his short stint in the big leagues. He capitalized on another today with a bases loaded single in the third inning to score two and put the White Sox ahead 7-4. This was also the first game Remillard batted leadoff, and he did not disappoint.
Tim Anderson: 2-for-5, 2 R
It was good to see Anderson get on the scoresheet today after 24 consecutive at bats without a hit. He was an important part of the White Sox early run-scoring, crossing the plate in the first and third. Hopefully this game can be something to build on for Anderson.
Eloy Jimenez: 1-for-4, 2 RBI, R
Jimenez only recorded one hit today, but it was an important one in the White Sox’s big third inning. He singled with the bases loaded, driving in two and giving the White Sox life after falling behind 4-1 early. Jimenez has hit the ball well lately, something the White Sox will certainly need to continue in order to string further wins together.
