The White Sox bats looked great today, as the Pale Hose collected 15 hits. Lance Lynn started a bit shaky, giving up a home run to the first batter, but finished strong in his 2022 season debut. Jake Burger was pulled during the game today after taking a pitch to the hand on a swing. X-rays came up negative and he is day-to-day.
Things looked up at the beginning of the game with a lead-off hit from the hot bat of AJ Pollock. Pollock would come around to score after a Jose Abreu home run later in the inning. The lead wouldn’t last for long as the Tigers battled back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first. The White Sox pulled away with the lead in the fifth after a string of hits from McGuire, Mendick, Pollock, and Robert, respectively. They would then add some insurance later in the top of the sixth and ninth and win the ball game.
Lance Lynn threw 88 pitches in 4.1 innings, giving up 10 hits and three earned runs while striking out four and walking none. He started off slow giving up all three runs in the first two innings, but the next two innings were much cleaner as he only allowed three hits after that. The bullpen was very worn down but stayed strong today, only giving up two hits and two earned runs after Lynn’s departure.
The White Sox improve to 28-31 and will play Detroit again tomorrow.

Notable Performances
Jose Abreu: 3-4, 3 H, 2 HR, 4 RBIs, 1 BB
Jose Abreu has continued his hot month of June with a two home run day. He absolutely hit the laces off the ball on both of these hits. Jose Abreu has been a Tigers killer this year, slashing a line of .364/.462/.546 which gives him a nice OPS of 1.007. Here are the homers from today:
Reese McGuire: 1-4, 2B
Reese McGuire had a nice double today that based on Statcast would have been a home run in 24/30 MLB ballparks. He also laid down a nice bunt that scored two runs due to an error from pitcher Andrew Chafin.
Kyle Crick: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
Kyle Crick pitched a very interesting 1.1 innings today. Crick continues to show he has decent stuff at points but definitely struggles with control. He threw a very good slider against Javier Baez to strike him out. Here it is below:
