Next week, the MLB will be hosting their first ever MLB Spring Breakout, in which each team will construct a roster of their minor league players to compete in one game – except for the Reds and the Cardinals, who will each play two. The event will be comprised of 16 exhibition games across four days from March 14-17.
This year, the White Sox are scheduled to face off against their crosstown rival Chicago Cubs on March 15 at 4:05 p.m. CT. With the game nearly a week away, the Sox have just released their official roster of 23 minor league players, nine of whom recently appeared in Sox On 35th’s Top 30 Prospects and many others included as honorable mentions.
The roster is headlined by top prospect Colson Montgomery, with fellow top 10 prospects Edgar Quero, Bryan Ramos, and Jacob Gonzalez joining him in the infield. They are also joined by fan-favorite Tim Elko and versatile defender Brooks Baldwin among others. In the outfield, newly drafted slugger George Wolkow will be making an appearance in the Spring Breakout game. He will be joined by newly acquired Zach DeLoach, Jacob Burke, and Terrell Tatum.

On the mound, the Sox are notably missing top pitching prospect Noah Schultz, opting to construct the pitching room with mostly relievers. The lone starter who will appear in the exhibition is Mason Adams, who was very close to cracking our top 30 ranking and could rise in the ranking by mid-season with a strong showing. He is joined by Spring Training standouts Jordan Leasure and Prelander Berroa, along with Alex Speas, Jared Kelley, and more.

Surprised José Rodríguez isn’t on the team. Think that says something about what the Sox think of him.
