It’s been one heck of a week for the White Sox, but they managed to wrap up this homestand with a series split. Today’s game was powered by a very persistent Mike Clevinger who had no hits through five innings but was quickly broken up in the top of the sixth by a leadoff single. He finished after seven innings with just one run, one hit, and 10 strikeouts.
On the offense, the Sox came out scoring right away in the bottom of the first after Andrew Vaughn singled to bring in Tim Anderson. Vaughn singled again in the third sending Andrew Benintendi home on a throwing error, which was followed by a Gavin Sheets walk and Vaughn scored on a wild pitch.

In the sixth inning, after the Athletics committed their third error of the day, Yoan Moncada’s double into right field mixed with speed on the base path landed him on third base. He quickly scored when Sheets singled to left. Later in the seventh, Moncada continued to shine at the plate when he doubled again driving in Benintendi and Anderson.
With the win, the Sox are 52-79 on the season.
