In case Jason Benetti isn’t already busy enough, the White Sox play-by-play broadcaster is adding yet another impressive gig to his rapidly growing resume.
NBC unveiled this morning that Benetti will be its baseball play-by-play voice for the Olympic Games, which are scheduled to go on as planned from July 23-August 8 in Tokyo, Japan.
Benetti responded to the announcement with the following tweet:
While Benetti is away from the Sox, radio play-by-play broadcaster Len Kasper will fill in alongside Steve Stone on NBC Sports Chicago. ESPN Chicago studio host Connor McKnight will then take over Kasper’s duties on WMVP-AM 1000, joining Darrin Jackson on the radio.
As of right now, we can expect to hear Benetti announce the semifinals, bronze-, and gold-medal games set for August 4-7. With the baseball portion of the Summer Games scheduled to begin on July 28th, we’ll have to wait and see if he calls any additional games.
