Earlier this week, we released our Sox On 35th staff predictions for this shortened 2020 White Sox season. Because there’s so much excitement surrounding this 60-game sprint and we love hearing from all of you, we decided to open up the same questions to our followers. Here are the responses we received!
60-Game Record
Majority’s Prediction: 34-26 (24%)
You all gave a pretty wide spectrum for wins, with the range falling anywhere between 30 and 43 victories. Within that, the highest percentage of votes was cast for a 34-26 overall record.
Team MVP
Majority’s Prediction: Yoan Moncada (45%)
Third baseman Yoan Moncada was the runaway favorite for Team MVP with 45% of the votes. Right behind him were Tim Anderson (16.5%), Eloy Jimenez (14.5%), Luis Robert (9%), Yasmani Grandal (8%), and Jose Abreu (7%).
Team Cy Young
Majority’s Prediction: Lucas Giolito (47.5%)
Nearly half of you voted for Lucas Giolito as your White Sox Cy Young winner. Behind the team’s ace were Dylan Cease (27%), Dallas Keuchel (18.75%), Aaron Bummer (3.75%), Carlos Rodon (1%), Jimmy Cordero (1%), and Alex Colome (1%).
Team X-Factor
Majority’s Prediction: Luis Robert (17.7%)
There won’t be a graph for this answer simply because we received such a wide variety of responses. Nearly everyone who figures to be on the 30-man roster was not only named but received multiple votes. However, it was Luis Robert who pulled away with roughly 17.7% of the responses. Edwin Encarnacion, Yasmani Grandal, Eloy Jimenez, and Jose Abreu were also among the top vote-getters.
Team Breakout Player
Majority’s Prediction: Luis Robert: (37%)
Rookie Luis Robert topped Dylan Cease (24%) for this year’s breakout player. Behind those two were Nomar Mazara (16.5%), Eloy Jimenez (9.5%), Nick Madrigal (6%), Jimmy Cordero (2%), and Reynaldo Lopez (2%). Also, receiving votes in the “other” category were Andrew Vaughn (1%), Yermin Mercedes (1%), and Nicky Delmonico (1%).
