White Sox Farm Report: April 3, 2024

by Michael Suareo

It was an offensive juggernaut in Charlotte on Wednesday night, as the Knights and the Tides combined for a whopping 37 total runs. Unfortunately, it was the hometown team that came out on the losing end.

As you can imagine, the bats were very much alive in this game. Lenyn Sosa and Rafael Ortega each hit a home run, while Colson Montgomery, Robbie Grossman, and Zach DeLoach each hit a double. Montgomery’s bat finally broke out in this one, as he had three total hits on the day.

On the mound, it was a night that the Charlotte staff would like to forget. Nick Nastrini took the ball for his first start of the season. Unfortunately, he only made it through three innings, giving up four runs on seven hits, while striking out five.

It just got worse from there when the bullpen took over, and we even saw Danny Mendick take the mound for the final two innings. Overall, it was one of those nights you just have to put in the rearview mirror.

FINAL: Tides 26, Knights 11.

W: Tucker Davidson (1-0) | L: Bailey Horn (0-1)

Offensive Recap:

Pitching Recap:

Notable Performances:

Colson Montgomery: 3-for-6, 2B, RBI, K

Colson Montgomery finally had the breakout day at the plate we all have been waiting for. He totaled three hits, including his first extra-base hit at the Triple-A level. There should be plenty more of these types of performances to come.

Lenyn Sosa: 2-for-5, HR, 2 RBI, K, BB

After joining the White Sox in case a roster spot was opened by a possible Eloy Jimenez IL stint, Lenyn Sosa rejoined the Knights and had a very good day at the plate. He had two hits on the day, including his first home run of the season, and drove in two of the Knights eleven runs on the day.
