Down on the farm on Tuesday, all four White Sox Minor League affiliates were in action. The Triple-A Charlotte Knights bested the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 9-5 behind a 3-RBI night from Yolbert Sanchez and a strong outing from the bullpen. Tanner Banks notched his second win of the season (in relief of Luke Farrell), as all six of his outs came via strikeout on his way to posting two scoreless innings. Charlotte also received a strong performance from leadoff hitter Zach Remillard, who walked twice and blasted a solo shot to left field in the 8th inning. The Knights now sit at 22-24 on the year.
Unfortunately, the Double-A Birmingham Barons dropped another game, falling to the Tennessee Smokies 7-5. Jose Rodriguez, Alsander Womack, and Xavier Fernandez all smashed home runs in the defeat. The High-A Winston-Salem Dash came roaring out of the gates to a 23-9 start, but the tides have turned as they’ve now lost six games in a row. Their record now rests at 23-15 after Tuesday’s 7-3 loss to the Brooklyn Cyclones.
On a more positive note, the Low-A Kannapolis Cannon Ballers saw catcher Troy Claunch break out in a big way on Tuesday, going 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run, recording three RBI in the process. Shane Murphy fired five innings of one-run ball, and Kannapolis handled the Augusta GreenJackets 6-1.
