White Sox Farm Report: May 4, 2023

by Brian Barry

The Triple-A Charlotte Knights came out with a bang on Thursday, recording a monstrous 15 runs on 19 hits. Carlos Perez, Clint Frazier, and Victor Reyes all left the yard, with Reyes and Perez smacking two-run home runs each, and Frazier ripping two solo home runs of his own. Yolbert Sanchez notched a four-hit night as well, and Nate Fisher tossed five shutout innings in the triumphant 15-2 victory. Charlotte improved to 14-16 after Thursday’s offensive outburst.

Cristian Mena, a top pitching prospect in the White Sox system, took the bump for the Double-A Birmingham Barons yesterday. While he looked shaky in the first inning, he proceeded to dominate in the five subsequent innings, tallying an impressive 11 strikeouts in the win. Chris Shaw and Jose Rodriguez provided some offensive thump for the Barons, with Shaw lifting a 2-run homerun and Rodriguez also sending one over the wall. The Barons moved to 11-13 with the 5-3 win yesterday.
