Your chance to be in attendance for games during the 2020 season – in some form – has just gotten better! The White Sox announced their new initiative, called FANtastic Faces, which gives fans the opportunity to purchase a cardboard cutout of their likeness and have it displayed at Guaranteed Rate Field during the team’s first homestand against the Twins.
The team will be producing just 1,500 of these FANtastic Faces cardboard cutouts for $49 apiece. Once the opening three-game series against Minnesota concludes, the cutouts will then be authenticated by the team and available for pick-up. The Sox also said that all proceeds from these sales will benefit Chicago White Sox Charities (CWSC), which works to support hundreds of Chicago-based organizations.
This initiative by the club comes after other teams across baseball, like the Oakland A’s and San Francisco Giants, offered the same opportunity to their fan bases. It seems like the cardboard cutout craze has become popular over the past few months thanks to South Korea’s KBO league. Many teams implemented the clever strategy in efforts to fill their empty stadiums, and it’s worked. For just $49 that goes towards a good cause, this seems like a no-brainer.
Sales of FANtastic Faces begin today, July 8 at 3 p.m. at whitesox.com/fantasticfaces. Visit the website for more information!
