White Sox land four prospects on MLB Pipeline’s latest Top 100 list

by Joe Binder

A fresh list of MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 prospects has been revealed this afternoon as part of a special program on MLB Network. While the White Sox might have graduated a lot of their young talent from the rankings already over these past few years, they are still managing to grab headlines. On the newest list, the organization saw four of their guys within the top 40: Luis Robert (3), Andrew Vaughn (16), Michael Kopech (20), and Nick Madrigal (40).

To no surprise, three of the four players on this list are ready to make their presence felt on the South Side this season. Robert, fresh off his contract extension, will be slated as the team’s starting center fielder come Opening Day. Right behind him are Nick Madrigal and Michael Kopech who are set to join the Major League team at some point during the 2020 campaign as well, providing reinforcements to a much more complete looking roster than we’ve seen in years past. As for Andrew Vaughn, he spent last season with the High-A Winston-Salem Dash and most likely will be seeing time with the Double-A and Triple-A affiliates this season if all goes according to plan with his development.

This Top 100 list unveiling comes after a week of other rankings by MLB Pipeline, where the group listed off the Top 10 prospects at their respective positions. As you can guess, there was plenty mention of the above White Sox players there also. Luis Robert ranked first for outfielders, Andrew Vaughn landed first among first basemen, Nick Madrigal ranked second behind Colorado’s Brendan Rodgers for second basemen, and Michael Kopech was fourth on the list of right-handed pitchers. Plenty of accolades ahead of what should be an exciting season for the aforementioned prospects.
